Well, we have had quite an exciting 24 hours. Last night at about 6:00, Carter was buckled into his chair on the bar stool and used his feet to push himself over backwards. I was standing right there but couldn't catch him. He landed head first on the hardwood floor. Tony came home from work and we decided that Carter needed to go to the ER. I stayed with Kennedy and Tony took Carter to the hospital. On the way there, he threw up. When they got to the hospital I was on my way (thankfully a friend was able to watch Kennedy). They did a CT scan and while they did not find any swelling or bleeding in his brain, but they did find a small break in his skull. They initially wanted to keep him over night for observation at St. Francis, but they thought he would be better to send him to Children's Mercy Hospital in KC. They wanted to transport him themselves so I rode with Carter in the ambulance to KC at about 11:00. As you can imagine, Carter was not a fan of getting strapped down on the stretcher for the ride. By 2ish, Children's Mercy decided it was ok for Carter to go home. Luckily, Tony's sister, Katie, lives in KC and was nice enough to drive me and Carter back to Topeka because Tony was home with Kennedy.
As you can imagine, Carter has a big knot on the back of the head but he is doing better today. So, it is bar stools 2, Compton children 0. I don't think they will be getting on the bar stools anymore. At least until they are 21. :)
