Carter had a Halloween party at our moms group today.  He wore his spider costume for about 5 minutes.  We took pictures and then he grabbed it and said, "this off."  We got some good pics!!
Carter and I were in charge of the cupcake walk.  He demonstrated how to play it very nicely.  He starts to show a smile a little bit, but for the most part it was strictly business,  :)
Happy Halloween!!
Sunday the whole family carved pumpkins.  Carter pretty much sat with us until it came time to clean it out and then he just played on the deck.  Kennedy cried and said she wouldn't put her hands in the pumpkin because it was, "disgusting!"  Here is a video of her finally doing it.

Just doing a little reading!

Tony spent 2 weeks in Wales at the end of September/beginning of October.  The kids and I spent a week in Garden City to avoid mom going crazy!  :)  Here are a few pictures from the fun!!!!!

Doing Chores..

Katie got Kennedy this adorable shirt and she had one that matched.  Too cute!!!

Nona has the touch!  We were all talking and Carter snuggled up and fell asleep with Nona.  Kennedy was faking it!  :)

Here are a few more pictures of the pumpkin patch.  The kids had a great time playing.  Carter tried to climb the large hay stack like Kennedy but didn't succeed.  Thankfully (and surprisingly!) he did not fall and injure his head!!!  Score 1 for mom!!!  :)  As you can see in the last picture, Kennedy is very happy to be posing with her friends!
Here is the video of the train ride.

Pumpkin Patch!  Last week Carter and I went with Kennedy to her class trip to the pumpkin patch.  We went on a hayrack ride, picked pumpkins and the kids went on a train ride.  Of course Carter didn't want to ride with Kennedy so he had his own car.  I was very surprised that Carter didn't get upset at all when they went on the ride.  At one point, they couldn't even see me and went in a tunnel!  What was I doing there?  :)

Kennedy brought snacks to school on Tuesday and when I asked her about it, this is what she said, "Everyone liked them except one girl.  She doesn't like cheese."  I told her that was fine and then she said, "Then I told them that since I brought you snack, what do you say?"  (obviously expecting a thank you.)  I tried to explain that moms can take care of telling their kids to say thank you and she said, "Mom, they all said thank you."  I don't really know how to respond to her forcing manners on kids....sheesh.

We made the Nieman Marcus Chocolate chip cookies with some friends.  Don't they look so cute in the aprons!!!!  The cookies were awesome too!  Don't worry.  Kennedy now has pants that fit her.  We did not get a flood!
We went to McDonalds last week (I know, don't judge me) and Kennedy was playing with some new friends in the play area.  They were chasing each other and calling each monsters and Kennedy puts her hands out and says, "I'm not a monster.  I'm just a kid."  It was hysterical and of course she was totally serious and the kids were confused.  My daughter. The little adult.  :)

First Day of Preschool!!
Standard First day of school pic.
It is rainy today so she needed her jacket and she wanted everyone to see her bag.
Standing at her cubbie at school.
Already playing with a friend.

As one would imagine, Kennedy could care less that I was even leaving.  She was very exciting for today!  She was playing when I left and when I told her bye and that Carter and I were leaving, she just said, "ok."  Just like that.  I supposed her screaming her head off would be worse, but a little sadness would be ok.  :)  Carter on the other hand had pure panic in his face when we arrived like I was leaving him.  At least I can count on Carter to go bananas when he goes to school!

Tony did a great job of keeping him calm.  I couldn't take it.  I had to snuggle him up.  Honestly he didn't look this pathetic the whole time!  :)
The longer we were at the hospital the better Carter felt.
Well, we have had quite an exciting 24 hours.  Last night at about 6:00, Carter was buckled into his chair on the bar stool and used his feet to push himself over backwards.  I was standing right there but couldn't catch him.  He landed head first on the hardwood floor. Tony came home from work and we decided that Carter needed to go to the ER.  I stayed with Kennedy and Tony took Carter to the hospital.  On the way there, he threw up.  When they got to the hospital I was on my way (thankfully a friend was able to watch Kennedy).  They did a CT scan and while they did not find any swelling or bleeding in his brain, but they did find a small break in his skull.  They initially wanted to keep him over night for observation at St. Francis, but they thought he would be better to send him to Children's Mercy Hospital in KC.  They wanted to transport him themselves so I rode with Carter in the ambulance to KC at about 11:00.  As you can imagine, Carter was not a fan of getting strapped down on the stretcher for the ride.  By 2ish, Children's Mercy decided it was ok for Carter to go home.  Luckily, Tony's sister, Katie, lives in KC and was nice enough to drive me and Carter back to Topeka because Tony was home with Kennedy.

As you can imagine, Carter has a big knot on the back of the head but he is doing better today.  So, it is bar stools 2, Compton children 0.  I don't think they will be getting on the bar stools anymore.  At least until they are 21.  :)

Balloon Animals
Kennedy took this picture of all of the animals.
Carter, obviously very happy, with his penguin.
Little model with her flamingo.
Carter took this picture.  Kennedy said, "I am impressed.  He wasn't even looking at us."  :)
This morning we are having french toast sticks and Carter wanted to put the powdered sugar on himself. I thought that would be ok until I realized that I left the powdered sugar shaker right next to him. You get a powdered sugar monster. :)

Swim Lessons!!!
The kids have been taking swimming lessons at the YWCA.  Carter and I go together and Kennedy gets to do it all by herself now.  She is doing so well and loves it!  Carter likes to just throw the stuff he is supposed to swim to.  He really doesn't want to swim.  However, he does love to jump in....actually it is more like running off the side of the pool!

Action shot!  Carter kicking!

Carter Pre-op waiting to go in...
Carter post-op at home in bed, relaxing!

Carter had tubes put in his ears today. He did very well! We had to be there at 7:45 and we were in the car and through at 9:08. He was very groggy when he was coming out of surgery, but once he was awake he started saying bye, bye and pointing to the door. We laid in bed for a few hours, had breakfast and he crawled off the bed at 10:30 to go play. He was been great the rest of the day. I can hardly believe how well he is doing!
