Gymnastics!

Kennedy and Carter are both doing gymnastics this year.  It hurt a little when Kennedy decided not to do dance, but I have gotten over it!  :)  She is pretty good at gymnastics.  Carter is quite strong.  Here is a video of Carter.  I will get a video of Kennedy next time to share.

First day of School!!

Carter's first day.  Walking in...

Very excited to get started!  He has a great day!  When I looked in the window before I left, I saw him in between 2 girls.  After school, I asked him about it and this is what he said.
Mom: "I saw you were sitting in between 2 girls."
Carter: "Yes!  They were surrounding me!  I guess they are attracted by me."
Gotta love it!!

Kennedy first day of school!

Kennedy had a great day at 1st grade!  I asked how it was and she told me, "It started out slow, but picked up at the end."  I don't know where she gets it, but it makes for some pretty funny blog postings! We asked if she liked her teacher and she said, "we have a lot in common. We both like to (and then makes the hand motion of talking)." We explained to her that she should NOT be talking.

School is out for the summer!!!!!

Today was Kennedy's last day of Kindergarten!!  Carter's last was May 23rd so I have included his pics as well.  We have so much planned for the summer!  It is going to be a good one!  Now if Minnesota will cooperate and let the sun shine, it will be perfect!!!

So Katie Bell is officially OFF the market!  Last weekend Katie got married and we were all in the wedding.  We sprung for plane tickets because I'm pretty sure if we had to drive 14 hours and turn around and drive 14 hours back 3 days later, one of us would NOT have made it!  It was so fun and the kids loved every minute!
Congratulations, Katie and Tyler!!

Waiting in the airport..

Kennedy reading the emergency procedure manual.  She looked at me and said, "where is this slide?" (you know the one you have to use to get out of the plane in an emergency?!) I told her that we weren't flying over water and so we don't have one.  She just shrugged her shoulders and shook her head like, "oh, yeah, that makes sense!"

Carter and my nephew, Porter, were the ring bearers and Kennedy was the flower girl.  Too cute!!

Come on!  Really with these two?!

Let the summer sports begin!!!

We are in week 2 of softball/tball.  Both kids are really enjoying it however it is a little hectic during the week!  Neither of the leagues the kids are in keep score at this point, but it is so fun to watch them.

Kennedy-I have more pictures to add, but her as catcher was so stinking cute!!  She stayed in the crouched position even to through the ball.  Thankfully she didn't hit the batter when she threw it back to the pitcher!  Kennedy was batting once when the catcher hit her in the back with the ball.  Thankfully it was as hard as if a 9 month old had thrown it!!  She is throwing left-handed, but bats pretty good on either side!  She hasn't caught many balls(of course very few are hit in the air!), but she did stop a grounder and got the batter out when she played 1st base!  Tony was standing off the field by 1st base and I'm not sure who was prouder.  Kennedy of herself or Tony of Kennedy.  Priceless moment!

Carter-Carter has games on Monday and Wednesday nights.  He probably has one of the best arms on his team, but isn't very interested in getting the ball.  The first game he played catcher (I will add those pics later) and I am pretty sure it was because of his arm!  However, he has the biggest head on the team (most of the helmets don't fit him) so maybe they gave him the catcher helmet for safety!  :)  Here are a few from Carter's game last night.  He does pretty well for his first time.  Most of the kids hit the ball (they hit off of a stand) and run to the middle of the field instead of 1st.  Carter knows where to go and he usually hits it pretty far.  Here is a pic of the slugger!!!  The ball is in the air, look at the background, there is a kid in a blue coat and the ball is just over his head.  Not too shabby!

Carter and I made a barn today.  He loved it!  He said, "We did a really good job on this barn."  Grandpa Byron would have been proud considering the unique animals!

Spring Break Fun!!!

We didn't go out of town for spring break, but we had alot of fun!!!  Here are a few of the highlights!!

We went to Pump it Up!  They have a huge room with a bunch of jumping things in it.  Here is a little video of the kids going down the slide.

We painted...

Watched Daddy curl?  Tony went curling.  I'm not sure what you call it when you are watching it.  The kids made signs.  I think that is the first time that has ever happened because everyone was laughing.  :)  You are welcome, Tony.

We went to the movies at Mall of America.  They have a demo in the lobby where you can try out the seats that move around during the movie.  The kids thought it was awesome.  They were a little scared but love it!

Yes, they are holding an alligator.  They love them and want to watch the show Gator Boys all the time. It is weird.

Just a few little tidbits.....

  • Kennedy and Carter got money for Valentine's Day-thank you Nancy, Alissa and Rosemary
    • We went to Target and I told them they could have $5 and pick something out.  We were obviously in the $1 section.  When I explained to them how much they had and how much they could get, Carter looked and me and said, "UGH!  I wish I had a job."  In this sad, disappointed voice.  It was priceless, as if he was looking for a job.  :)
  • We were driving in the car and I asked the kids what I was going to do when they both are in school full time.  Kennedy said, "Go to the bar and have lunch with your friends."  In the matter of fact way that she says things like that.  I laughed and said, "what?"  She then said, "are you thinkin, 'what has my husband done to her!' ?!"  She is too much!!
  • Carter eating a kit kat, "boy I just love these kitty kats!"  :)
  • Kennedy and I were reading a book and it had hippos in it and I commented on how cute they were.  Kennedy's response, "They are cute, but will kill you.  Just to alarm you."
  • Lastly, we had conferences last week and they are both during very well.  It is amazing how much Kennedy has learned.  She is doing math and reading at the 1st grade level.  She loves school!  Carter is doing well.  He likes to hang out with his buddies and is learning so much!

Exciting News!!!!

Carter is now a man!!!  He learned how to shave.  He got a shaving kit for Christmas and last night tried it out.
NOTE:  Carter is now trying to copy everything Tony does.  It is adorable! You can see by the outfits.  Carter changed so that they could match.  Love it!!!

shaving cream...

more shaving cream...

daddy helping

And for the shave!  Even big sis helped.

You have to have a warm towel afterwards!!

admiring his handy work!!!  He kept touching his face because he really thought he had shaved.  Too cute!!!!

Fancy Nancy day at school!!

At school this week they have been reading the Fancy Nancy books.  Today they had a party and could dress up.

In Minnesota you rock boots with your fancy dress!  :)  She did have flats to change into at school, of course!  As we drove to school (because someone this fancy can NOT ride the bus), Kennedy said, "We are all going to look so posh! That is fancy for fancy."  :)

Waiting at the smartboard to check in. Please note the addition of the crown.

Kennedy's teacher, Mrs. McCarthy.  I like to call her THE Fancy Nancy!!

They had a "meeting" in the gym.  When they got to the gym, the doors had streamers hanging from them that they had to walk through and a red carper.  It was so cute.  All 3 kindergarten classes were there dressed up.  The man in the tan shirt is the principal and the red shirts is the assistant.  They looked the part and the kids loved it!!!  They brought presents to the students that the teachers opened and they were itouches.  Not for every student, but 4 kids will share 1 itouch. Really?  In Kindergarten?  The kids were screaming!!!
