We had "club" sandwiches and peanut "putter" sandwiches for lunch.  If you know Carter at all, you know that he takes forever to eat.  ALL of the kids were finished and Carter was still sitting there.  He obviously didn't care.

Carter had a great birthday party.  We had about 10 kids there, mostly boys.  I was very glad for all of the help!

Just a little celebration for Tony's 35th birthday.  The kids and I made him a peanut butter cheesecake for him-his favorite!



Fun time!!!

 

The last few weekends have been so great!  Tony has been able to golf and the kids and I have had so many fun escapades!  Dance Clinic, pet expo, children's museum and pumpkin patch.  However the 2 best events I didn't even mention yet! 

 

Instead of kids selling junk that you don't want for school fundraisers, Kennedy's school does a fun run.  You pledge whatever amount you want and the kids run basically around the school.  Each class races.  Kennedy had an awesome time and it gets the whole school out for a fun day.  Last year, everyone wore shorts because it was so hot.  This year the temperature was about 55.  Carter and I volunteered and handed out popsicles and bottled water.  The kids loved it.  Here are a few pics of Kennedy's class.

Lastly, Tony played in a golf tourney this past weekend.  The format is like the Ryder cup.  Here is a picture of the trophy.

 

Just to brag a little bit, on Sunday they picked Tony to anchor the tourney because he has been playing so well and it came down to him!  He was the final pairing and if he won, they won, if he lost they tied and would have gone to a play off.  Anyway, as you can see below, HE WON!!!!  It is so exciting!!!  Here is the picture of Tony's teammate (our neighbor and friend), Tom Young.  Unfortunately the trophy stays at the club.  But we do get it at our house for 1 week.  :) 



Yesterday we hit the pumpkin patch.  The kids and I had a great time!

 

They had over 150 acres of pumpkins.  It was a little bit overwhelming! at 35 cents a pound, however, it was a great deal!

Friday, the kids were out of school so we thought we would check out the new exhibits at the Children's Museum.

Today we went to the Pet Expo.  We saw a few demostrations while we were there.  The trainers asked a few kids to come up and show everyone how to "meet" a dog.  They asked a few questions, which Kennedy knew the correct answer both times, and then they were able to pet the dogs.  Afterwards, they were like celebrities.  Then, everyone knew them at the expo.  It was typical from the my kids.  They had a great time!!!!!

Friday, Kennedy performed with the high school dance team at half time of the football game.  She had a great time and learned alot.  I think she had as much fun just being on the field as she did dancing!

So, as far as the bus, Kennedy hasn't cried for almost 2 weeks.  It is going very well.  She does ask me probably twice in the morning if we are going to be late, but then is ok.  Her is the outfit she picked out a couple of days ago.  To no ones surprise, she tried to bring a purse and wear lipstick.  That didn't fly.  :)

 

 

As for Carter, he is doing great!  He has made a friend, Payton.  They pal around together and sit by each other in the morning.  Payton always says hi to me and I try to instil fear in him.  That way when they are older he won't try to persuade my sweet baby boy into getting into trouble.  :)  A girl can dream, right?  Today a firefighter came to school.  Here is Carter talking about it.

 

 



Well, I thought I would update everyone on the Compton kids.  Last weekend we ran in the school district fun run.  The kids and I participated in the 2K.  We ran and walked.  It was around the school and then around the track once  in the beginning and once at the end.  The kids did really well.  Kennedy ran the entire distance around the track.  Carter did about 3/4.  Here is a picture of Carter and I finishing.

It is on the school districts website and I had to hold my backpack like that because the water bottles were in there and jostling around. I know, I look like a goober....what's new!  Anyway, they got tattoos, face painting, alot of jumping things.  It was really fun.

What a great weekend!!!

 

This past weekend we met some friends in Wichita.  Tony played golf and I had some girl time.  The best part was getting to see my parents.  While it was very short, the kids got to spend all weekend with them.  Thankfully I got to have some much needed relaxing time.  It was so awesome!  The kids had such a great time and I think my parents (and uncle matt) had a pretty good time too!  Although I don't have any pictures from the weekend (I was too busy getting a massage and napping!) I did get a few pictures of us on the way....

 

Yes. we took the jet and yes it was the kids first time flying.  Kennedy flew when she was 6 months, but doesn't really remember.  Really?!  I flew on this for the first time in January....when I was 32.  I hope these kids feel lucky and realize they shouldn't get use to this!!!

Carter was a little nervous, but that went away pretty quick and turned into excitement!!

Kennedy got her chance to "drive" the plane.  In case you don't know, the pilot for the company is Shannon Welch from GC.  I wouldn't have it any other way!  He took VERY good care of my family!  Thanks, Shannon!!!

They got to go to Build-a-Bear and they each got glasses for their bear.  Fortunately they also fit the kids. 

We had a wonderful weekend and feel so blessed to have family willing to be with the kids while we got some adult time.  Thanks Mom, Dad and Matt!!!



A little update.....

 

Things are going better on the bus.  Kennedy is trying to call herself down in the morning and not cry.  Tony bribed her with a Justin Bieber CD and that is working so far.  Carter is doing pretty good too, oh wait, no he isn't he cried Tuesday.  Here is hoping spiky hair brings good luck today and there will be no crying!!

Kid #1

This is what we had last night....

 

 

Coming up the stairs we find Kennedy in a pile of tears.  She was crying for who knows what reason.  She has been a little emotional lately.  All day, every day is hard for someone who still lays down to rest every afternoon.  She is scared she is going to miss the bus and this morning she was waiting there and I was walking down the street to wait with her, it is 2 houses down remember, and the bus is coming.  She comes running and crying.....long story short she decides she is too upset to get on the bus, please keep in mind here that the bus driver let her get off to give me a hug only for her to get on, turn around and get off the bus.  I was angry to say the least, but sad for her because she is struggling with this bus thing.  She loves school and it is great!  Wednesday the teacher called to say that Kennedy is,"a great leader and plays very well with the other kids."  argh, you bus!!!! I dropped her off and talked to the teacher who is oh-so-compassionate when I want to show anything but compassion.  :)  I checked on her when I dropped off Carter and she is doing fine and will ride the bus home.  Wow.

We had a great morning(after the bus left) and the drive to school was fine.  We are waiting in line and he says again, "this is going to be fun."  I am pleased as punch because of what happened this morning and we walk in the room and boom.  Nothing happened he just decided he wanted me to stay.  Now.  It is easier to control yourself when Kennedy cries because she is screaming at you the whole time and is mad.  Carter on the other hand, he is so sad it is terrible!!!  He tries not to cry and puts his tongue in his cheek while his eyes are filling up with tears and his chin is quiverring. Really!  So there I sit next to him on the carpet, trying not to cry while explaining to him how long 2 1/2 hours is.  Sheesh.

 

Thank you God for giving me 2 children who are healthy and moderately happy.  Let me remember that when I want to leave them at school and drive off into the sunset.
